FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:


What do I wear/bring?

Most people wear trainers, however, the best type of shoe is a flatter, smoother soled pump shoe. We do sell something called a “carpet glider” which can be put over the shoe making it a little slide-ier.

What is the age range?

1. Zumba ® can be adapted to multiple groups of society. Young folks work it harder, older folks tend to be more gentle in their movements. In my classes the age range is 16-68.

 

I am quite uncoordinated, how will I manage?

1. All Zumba ® classes are quite different. Some are quite basic and the moves easy, others are quite hard to follow. My classes fall between the two, some tracks are easy but work you quite hard, others are slightly more complex to challenge your finer motor skills.

 

 How many times a week should I go?

1. I believe in mixed fitness, so whilst x3 Zumba ® a week would be brilliant, as a Personal Trainer I would probably recommend two Zumba's ® and one other type of training such as Pilates, Tai Chi or Yoga.

 

Will I lose weight doing Zumba ®?

1. It depends how hard you work in zumba and how much you adjust your calorie consumption. The equation still stands that calorie deficit is required for fat loss to be a achieved.

  

What parts of the body does Zumba ® tone-up?

1. Zumba ® is an excellent total body toning formula. The use of the hips means the abs and waist are being toned for the entire hour, the constant use of the arms means the upper arm is toned continually and the legs and buttox are being engaged in both cardio and deeper toning exercise again for the whole hour.

  

How long does it take to drop a dress size?

1. Again, this answer is subject to a couple of other factors being in place. Zumba ® x 3 per week, working hard during each session, not eating any junk/processed food and watching portion size, one could drop a dress size in four weeks.

  

Can I eat before coming to class?

1. It is not advisable to eat a big meal prior to Zumba ®, it is best to have a meal 2½ hours before or to have a snack 1½ hours before

Do hydrate properly prior to class with lots of water sipped throughout the afternoon.

4. If the class is busy, it will be extra hot too, please bring a water bottle and sip throughout the session.
5. Newcomers’ keep hip rotations small and gentle.
6. Build up stamina slowly.
7. Be aware of your own physical limitations.
8. Make sure you have a safe route home and are travelling with friends.
9. Remember to wrap up warm after a session.
